I am currently install linux cnc to
Pentium 4 D processor 1Gb ram 128 onboard VGA included desktop pc.
What is the highest base thread value to perform threading precisely.
I don't have a onboard parallel port so i planned to use 25 Pin IEEE 1284 Parallel Port D-Sub Connector to USB 2.0 Printer Adapter Cable.

Is it recommended to run linux cnc with this cable?

Already replied on the other thread, but here it is again:
P4D can be very good for latency with the intel chipset so you can easily get 50000 base thread. You need to disable hyperthreading in BIOS. Use the RTAI kernel.
Check if the motherboard has a parallel port header, almost all P4 have it, so you would need just a cable with a DB25 connector.
The USB to DB25 adapter will not work with Linuxcnc.

1GB Ram is pretty poor to run the enwest version of Debian

if you are willing as you use parport go bacjk to a very old 10.04 lucid install CD
this will drive your mashine as good then the newer version
