That looks promising, and most probably will work with Mesa.

I might get hands on a similar system. Would you mind running the test here and post the results here ?

... I also installed an ssd as well. After some research I found out the cpu is an AMD Athlon II X2 250 . I did some stress testing simultaneously running 3 glxgears programs a video and randomly transferring files from a usb to the SSD and back again and got a max Jitter Base thread of 20939 and Servo thread of 18469....

seuchato I tried running the script on my computer ( Linuxcnc Debian wheezy 2.7.14) and coudn't get it to run. Deffinetly got to be my lack of expertise. So I think I did the next best thing I ran 5 of the glxgears programs, ran the histogram, occasionaly moving and resizing files and ran a playlist from my YouTube channel . I am not going to post it in the other section because I haven't gotten it to work for me yet.
here are the histogram results base 31.6 servo 27.3

Could be wheezy. I will test the script on a machine with wheezy. I will put the findings in this thread and refer here.

update: long version here , short version: script is not compatible with wheezy for the time being

Use Mint 19.3 with Mate desktop for new-ish PC's and XFCE for older ones, it can be fully installed with LinuxCNC in about 20 minutes.

hey tommylight do you recommend Mint19.3 over Debian for general experimentation. I have an older HP laptop that has Windows Vista currently loaded ugh . I want to use it for code work only. It is also an AMD 64 bit processor. Turion . It's kinda hard to lug the PnP machine back and forth between home and were I work.
