Does anyone know if there's any issues running in raid1 (mirror) with rt-preempt kernel?

Hardware RAID = works, does not care about kernel or anything else, all the operating system sees is a single normal storage device.
Software RAID = do not know, never used it

Thank you. I'll give software raid a shot and let you know how it goes.

The only issue with hardware raid is you are locked into the manufacturers/version of raid particular to the card you are using.
Current thinking is that CPUs are fast enough to handle sw raid without any performance hit. Researched raid this year whilst setting up a new server at home.
The affect on latency would be interesting, and one would wonder the benefits of raid on a PC dedicated to cnc.

I don't think you would have any problem with software RAID's today. I ran then with Windows NT back in the early 90's and I think that would have been 32 bit hardware back then...

What happens if you are using normal hd and one has an timeout. Thats why server disks for raid use much smaller timeouts. I would gues a massive latency.
And what do you see as a need/advantage of a raid in cnc? Beside the good argument: I wan't it!
