base_period was created by billykid
hello
by calculating the base_period for my cnc is 34000 ns
Since I have 2 parallel ports. one for home, probe, motor.
another for 3 encoder. spindle override, feed override, mpg pendant.
spindle pwm + halui panel for display spindle speed.
in the calculation must take account of this or put the value calculated before?
I make this question because I have real time error with base_period to 30000ns
Regards
mauro

no the second parport will not change the timing needs.

You say it calculates 34000 but you run at 30000 (tighter timing then recommended) with a realtime error.
Is there an error with 34000 ?
What was your max latency when tested? How long did you test for?
When calculating the recommended base period stepconf takes into account stepper timing restraints.
Using tighter timing can cause you intermittent hard to find missed steps. ( assuming your stepper timings don't lie).
Using a larger base period will limit your max speed.

thanks for the reply.
these are the maximum values after 20 minutes:
slave threads 11162
basic thread 13869
EMC2 Ubuntu 8.04 Intel D945GCLF2 motherboard 1 GB DDR2 667

10.4 ubuntu with the sum of the two values do not exceed 15,000 ns
Installer This version works fine except sometimes give glib unknown user error. the system hangs
