Pi4 with 7i76e 4 or 8gb? was created by eman5oh
I have been looking to set up Pi4 to use with my Mesa 7i76e board and am a bit confused on the best Pi model to get. I was going to purchase the 8gb board to be more future proof. Is there any benefit to getting the 8 gb or should I just get the 4 gb board for this application? My plan is to use Gmoccapy as the gui if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for the help.

The "official" LinuxCNC image only supports 4GB (for reasons to do with a kernel issue) so there isn't much advantage using that with an 8GB.
However on this forum there is a 64-bit image that works with the 8GB Pi, if you want to go that way.

I've only ever used 4gb of ram on an X86 PC's so I don't think 8gb is necessary on a Pi
