Server Hardware for LinuxCNC? was created by rahenih775
Hello.
I'm interested, is that possible to use server hardware for LinuxCNC?
Typically server hardware have a server CPU and low-latency network interfaces. For my opinion it's better choice for using with network cards like MESA. But server hardware have problem like two CPUs or custom chipsets. Second problem - no video cards and low-proffile case to install cars.
Old server PCs is low-cost and more reliable. Someone try to use it or not? And what your opinion and recommendations?
Best regards

I had 1U SuperMicro servers with parallel port some years ago, they were very good for everything but noise, they sound like jet engines!

I'm agree. Noise is annoying. Like a old vacuum cleaner...
