Almost all of those tutorials are written by some guy from India that is most probably using a PC in the internet caffee, with zero experience in Linux.
For most users it just works so they do not bother writing anything.
Internet has become a minefield of bad information, from silly ones to plain dangerous ones, just search for free energy and be amazed at how many dum3 f#cks post anything and everything.
I still remember the time when you could tell someone to look something up on the net and be sure he/she would find good info, now it is hard even for me to sift through all the cr....

I also had my fair share of hair pulling on occasions, but if you dig deeper you will notice one glaring issue:
and yeah, I honestly cannot blame linuxCNC or even debian for this, every time I need to install linux, whether on a Pi, or an obsolete netbook that I am trying to give a 2nd life, the install experience has been nothing but hair pulling, and trying to find solutions in 5+year old posts of similar problems without solutions shown

more errors, but it is because the pc I am trying to install on does not have wifi.
since I am a bit more confident, I think I'll put back into original PC and try install from there
