Hello,
I’m looking at buying a Lenovo Thinkcentre M93p as a computer for my 7i76E.
is this a good combo?
Intel i5-4570T 2,90 gHz, 4 GB DDR3 ram, 120 GB SSD
Thanks in advance!

I have one of those running a machine daily, but with an i7 4770 i think, it is at a clients site for over a year.

Do keep in mind that if mine worked, yours might not, there are a lot of things inside a PC that can mess up latency, most of them can be fixed, but not all.

Oke cool, yes I understand it’s never 100% comparable… just wanted to check if the CPU was a go or not

I ended up buying 2 Lenovo Tiny PC's... 1 with i5-4570T and 1 with i3-6100T. I want to test them both with LinuxCNC.
What is the adviced Kernel for the 7i76E... Just Debian 10 PREEMPT?

I downloaded the original ISO, copied it on a USB drive via Rufus… but I’m having trouble installing it, on both systems.
The first problem was it wasn’t able to detect the ‘cd-rom drive’, I fixed that with:
mount -t vfat /dev/sdb /cdrom
Then I have problem with partitions part of the install, it gives an error.
Something with vfat SCSI1 partiton connecting to /boot/efi
I can’t figure out what the problem is…
Last time I installed Debian 10 I didn’t have problems at all (on an old PC)

Disable secure boot in BIOS, and maybe also set the boot to legacy mode.
F@#$%#^#$ UEFI and Microshaft and Intel for the mess they made.

I did that but it didn't help... but I'm 1 step further:
I deleted partition 1 (the efi partition) and then continue.
Then I get a warning about the EFI, I continued and it worked.
Now I get a problem with the GRUB:
The 'grub-efi-amd64' package failed to install into /target/. Without the Grub boot loard, the installed system will not boot
BTW:
Boot Mode UEFI Only is black in the BIOS (not editable)
EDIT: Boot Mode is fixed to Legacy

The legacy mode did the trick!

I did some brief latency testing... the i5 seems to perform way better than the i3, while on paper (online cpubenmark) only by a little bit.
