HIGHMEM and latency

HIGHMEM and latency was created by WildRice
I noticed a message in my dmesg log saying to use a kernel with HIGHMEM enabled. Is there a reason it is not, and would installing more memory help latency?

I'm not sure if more memory would help. Here is a couple of links on latency.

Are you using dapper? On dapper we have HIGHMEM disabled, because memory > 1G cause problems with the rtai version that is packaged.
More memory certainly won't help much with latency.

Yes, I am running Dapper. I originally tried to install Hardy, but the liveCD would not install on my SherlineCNC. It has been several weeks since I tried, but but it told me that there was some kind of IO error on my hard disk. Dapper did not find any error.
I never have a problem, unless I have a VNC session active, then I get glitches and get messages to check my latency. I know that Linux likes lots of memory, so I thought that it might help.
