Has anyone tried odroid h4/h4+ ?

H3+ is fine, that's what I use on my Mill. Cant' remember what the latency is, when using a Mesa motion control card it's not such an issue.

I'd take a very educated guess that the H4 wouldn't present any issues, Ethernet will be the only option for machine control.

You appear to be asking a lot of questions, what is your ultimate goal ?

A few have used the Odroid Hx PC's. My H2+ is fine. I think you only need the entry level H4 for Linuxcnc.

H4+ has 2 ethernet ports so you can use mesa+ethercat or mesa+internet

Didn't even realize this was coming. Only bummer on the base model is the omission of the 2nd ethernet port. Could do without the rest of the stuff for a machine build, but it might still be worthwhile to use the H4 base and attach a Netcard and have 5 ethernet ports

I'm guessing they use an Intel NIC on the H4 because they redesigned the Netcard to use Intel NICs and Hardkernel generally likes to source the same components for multiple devices. FYI the NetCard is a 4port ethernet card that plugs into the M.2 slot and a BIOS flash changes it from NVME x4 PCIE to 4 straight x1 PCIE. There's no PCIE bridge or anything like that so each Netcard NIC should have no more latency than an onboard NIC

Interesting. I was looking for a little router but had missed that. 6 ports total... and 4 are intel to boot!

How'd you miss that? The netcard's been out for years, it just used to have 2.5g Realtek NICs. I've been using an H2 with netcard as an OpenWRT router for like 5 years.
