Tool table which on is correct? was created by garymcrobertpdx
I have been having trouble getting the tool offset to work correctly.
Looking at the doc for the mill tool table I see tool, pocket, tool dia , tool length and
tool description.
looking at the tool table that came with the live disk 2.3.0 I see tool pocket tool length,
tool dia and tool description.

Hi
See
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ToolTable
esp this bit
Starting with Version 2.4.x the tool table format was changed. This is a brief description of it. A more complete description can be found in the EMC2 documentation.
Tool table files from 2.3.x configs are automatically converted to new format by EMC2.
Hopefully this answers your query, both can be used but you should use the new format for new tables.
regards
