FreeCAD g-code generator? was created by mstrick96
Has anyone worked with the Path Workbench in FreeCAD for generating g-code?
The developer says it is in early stages, mbut it looks like it has some interesting features already. Especially for making simple parts.
What do you think?

Recently I found ECAM:
ecam.altervista.org/
The best free CAM that I know, and I tested it several times both for milling and lathe. Development is active and the postprocessor can be changed to suit for example linuxcnc.

Thanks. Good info.
I'm building a longbed lathe and am thinking of adding a NC machining head to it later. Am most interested in building an NC router for woodworking and setting up a CAD/CAM/CAE workstation to do the design and control for both.
I like the looks of FreeCAD and am running it on a Debian 8.2 workstation with LinuxCNC. Am figuring out how to replace the Jessie kernel with a recent RT kernel and will then be set if the g-code in FreeCAD works well enough. If it doesn't work well, I'l try your suggestions.
Lots to learn!! Too many hobbies and not enough time!

Well ngcgui is part of Linuxcnc so it is seamless and fast to program any part. So that takes a step or three out of the process.
