Axis won't respond. was created by KenC
Hi,
I'm new to Linux, ubuntu, EMC2 & CNC.
BUT I'd bite the bullet & am building a CNC router with EMC2 as the motion control software.
Read the manual a few time over & still has not much clue how this works...
I completed the stepconf wizard, crossed checked the pin number many time & the motors turn as expected when I click the "test this axis" button.
I opened the AXIS & it did appear. But when I click on the first red cross button right under the "File" nothing happened...
What should I do?
Thanks for your attention & appriciate all the help I can get.
Cheers
Ken

After clicking on the X (E-Stop) you have to click on the I (Power) button, then you have to home.

Fustrated... I resorted to trial & error with the Stepconf wizard & wiring everywhere...
I did not invert the E-stop at the Parallel Port Setup. So, the program is locked of at Emergency state all the while... hence no action allowed.
set the Estop invert, Saved the Stepconf wizard, open AXIS, Pressed F1 (reset E-stop), then F2 (turn machine on), then home all the axis & Click the blue "play" button .... VIOLA! the motors sang! Beautiful music to my ears!
Let me enjoy the moment.....
