I need to be able to pause a program and the run a mdi command like torch on or spindle on/off then unpause. How can I set that up? I see that arceye figured it out.
I pulled up a YouTube video that he shot. Please help. Thank you

So that is what your email was asking.
The thread is here
www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/forum...set-a-variable#29257
It uses Qt4 Ubuntu 10.04 and linuxcnc 2,5, none of which I still use
The code for it is attached and still downloadable on the thread, but no support for it.
You would be much better off doing this through HAL,
Trying to pause and then execute MDI commands by taking linuxcnc out of Auto mode into MDI, then putting it back into Auto mode after and restarting from the correct line, is fraught with difficulties.
I'm sure other people have much more straight forward ways to turn their torches or spindles off, like a button or a link to motion, so that when everything stops the torch goes off.
regards
