Error opening xml file

I had a working system until I ran the config wizard in order to change the homing method. The error that I am having now is loading the xml file which describe s the right side axis panel.
Pyvcp_panel.xml describes the right side panel, Debug is contains the error. This pyvcp_panel has run before I ran the wizard.

A little advise,

Before updating, save your current files !

Reverse engeneering can be a hard time.

It looks like : pyvcp-panel.xml:1: Unknown command '<?xml'
Is it the - sign at line one? Maybe line two is also invoked with the issue....

I'm not exactly sure what is wrong but the commands:
<!--
-->

make all the other commands into comments.

also did you edit the file with a windows machine and have the wrong end-of-line character?

Long shot but could be a problem.

I ended up reinstalling linuxcnc 27.14 and the problem went away. Now on the new install it won't recognize signals like Clamp which worked before the reinstall. I have run into using text editors before in my working life. There are text editors out there that do not have formatting unprintable ASCI code attached to their data. On this project I have been using Mousepad which seems to work.
