Sticky Keyboard Jog was created by silden
We reinstalled LinuxCNC after replacing our SSD.
Long Story Short, we started jogging our machine and the machine kept moving for a while after we released the keyboard.
Two things to note are that this does not happen with the buttons nor gmoccappy. But it also happens inside of an axis sim.
Is there a setting/known problem with axis on ubuntu or some keyboards?

how is the responsiveness of the computer otherwise- is it laggy?
Are you using software stepping or otherwse using a base tread?
What version of linuxcnc are you using?

The Computer is a G4620 Pentium with 8GB RAM and a NVME drive. We use Ubuntu 19 and It isn’t laggy at all.
We tried it with the GMOCCAPY and it works as expected. The issue is only in AXIS. it seems that the Keyboard is faster then AXIS and that the command is kind of buffered.

You have made me unsure of your answer - 'not laggy' but keyboard acts 'buffered' which could be another way to saying laggy.
So to be clear - the keyboard is laggy in AXIS? or it's not laggy just the jogging doesn't stop properly?

What version of linuxcnc ? 2.7?
Are you using the same version before the SSD change as after?
Did you change anything besides the SSD?

This all helps to try to diagnosis. - I have not heard of such a problem besides someone changing the thread speed too much which makes user space slower to respond.
Though AXIS and Gmoccapy use different GUI toolkits the jogging code is roughly the same, so it's surprizing that keyboard jogging is so different.

no it’s laggy and it only happens in Axis while jogging. yes it doesn’t stop when I release the key. it keeps moving for a second or two. It doesn’t happen with stepped jog, i.e. 5mm steps, or in Gmocappy.

I have the same issue in Axis as well as in Gmoccapy. But only if load a little bit bigger gcode files. Very annoying. It even happen if I jog in steps. Sometime multiple steps are performed then.
Luckily the resulting crashes didn't really damaged something
Increasing the base period time doesn't resolve this.
I have LinuxCNC 2.75 running on a Core2Duo ~3 GHz. I thought that should be fast enough...

Is this running a RTAI or Preempt-RT kernel? (I've not noticed this myself, but...)

-try a different version or build of LinuxCNC,
-run memtest to check the memory, although i doubt it would be it,
-issues with graphic card/driver regarding OpenGL, run glxgears from the terminal and check the minimise/maximise if the gears lag of altogether stop for a moment.

I'm running the version from the linuxcnc-2.7.14-wheezy.iso with the PREEMPT-RT kernel.
The update to version 2.7.15 didn't change anything.
Ok, I will test another graphic card and run the glxgears... Thanks so far.

I got it!
I chose another graphic card and with that one it runs fine.
Thank you!
