				I've just installed 2.9.1 on bookworm using the live/install cd I've got it working using the stepconf wizard but the spindle on off buttons are missing. Any idea what I did wrong when setting it up. When I originally installed 2.7 on Ubuntu it just worked.and has worked perfectly for me scince. I tried to copy the linuxcnc folder over to the new installation but had to many errors so thought it was going to be easier to start again..

				There is nothing besides a single pin regarding the spindle in your configuration files.
Make a new config or edit this one, choose spindle pins, choose PWM or PDM, set the scaling for the spindle (and joints/axis), etc.
This is off the top of my head, so might not be exact.

				like tommy said, the spindle buttons in axis are tied to hal pins, its looking in your hal file for pins like "spindle.0.on" , etc

				i had the same issue after upgrading to 2.9.2 linuxCNC. It seems that stepConf is no longer inserting several commands into the my_machine.hal file. I had to copy this line from an old .hal file I had then my spindle on/Stop buttons showed up.
net spindle-on <= spindle.0.on
					net spindle-on <= spindle.0.on
