No movement after toggling Machine Power was created by jodyroth
I've been running my CNC in the "air", pausing, continuing, and restarting the project. Works great until I toggle the machine power. Then I get no movement but Axis seems to be working perfectly showing the simulation on the screen.
When I close and restart Axis I get:
Debug file information:
insmod: error inserting '/usr/realtime-2.6.32-122-rtai/modules/emc2/hal_parport.ko': -1 Resource temporarily unavailable
CNC-Garage.hal:7: exit value: 1
CNC-Garage.hal:7: insmod failed, returned -1
See the output of 'dmesg' for more information.
1507
PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
Stopping realtime threads
Unloading hal components
Which looks like a parallel port issue. It's like the Machine Power button locks out access to the parport on my computer.
I have to reboot the system to get back to normal. I don't know if ya'll have a fix for that. I could probably just avoid the Machine Power button until I'm done for the day but would like to have a more elegant solution.
The parallel port is on-board, not usb/pci. Stepperworld controller (tough one to set up in the first place, will post separately with my solutions).
Thanks,

I would send an email to the EMC maillist on this one.
if you ran EMC from a terminal and then type 'dmesg' after the error. you might get more of an idea the trouble.
The output from dmesg is long and usually cryptic, though.
The problem usually shows near the end.
The developers on the mail list will probably ask for it.
