Hello, just finished installing my EMC. Now, learning how to use it! I will use EMC to run a CNC Router, mostly for cutting and routing kitchen cabinet parts in MDF; I will be working with 2D files only for now. From what I have learned, I can use “Image-to-gcode” to generate a g-code file from a .png, .gif, or .jpg file. My questions are:
Where do I find my .ini file and [FILTER] section of my .ini file to integrate image-to-gcode with the AXIS interface? (sorry, no programming experience at all!)
Will Image-to-gcode work for converting 2D .dxf files?
Does the image-to-gcode generates a tool-path?
Thanks,
Carlos.

Your config files are in your home directory under emc/configs/<your config name>.
I'm pretty sure image to g code will not read a dxf file however you might look a some of the other options...
Inkscape plugin that I forget the name
PyCam pycam.sourceforge.net/
There are some more on the EMC wiki page

No. Try GcodetoolsWill Image-to-gcode work for converting 2D .dxf files?

Yes, but not the sort you probably want. It converts an image to a Z-depth map, then creates a raster path to machine the surface. If you want kitchen cabinets with the faces of celebrities sculpted into them, then that is your tool. Otherwise, it isn't.Does the image-to-gcode generates a tool-path?
