text display

I would like to have a text box that would show which sub routine that I am currently running.
Could I do something like this?

Put in sub
#<subname> = test (sub file name)

How would I link #<subname> in my hal file to be able to link it to a text box?
net sub-name ............ pyvcp.sub_name
