Map a keyboard key to a PyVCP button was created by JoeHildreth
I looked through the PyVCP forum and didn't see anything related, but is it possible to map a PyVCP button to a keyboard button? I am wanting to make a pendant from a keyboard controller and would like to be able to do a touchoff from the pendant.
Thanks,
Joe

Surprisingly difficult.
What version of linuxcnc are you using?
What screen are you using (eg AXIS) ?
If you are using a separate keyboard for the pendant (ie two keyboard controllers) ?
I think gladeVCP will be what you need to use - it can call MDI commands fairly directly.
You could use pyvcp with a classicladder program for touch off (it has been done), but that doesn't get you the keyboard connection.
Do you just want the keyboard connection and not really need the on screen button?

Hi
Have a look at my Axis modifications
www.mgware.co.uk
Axis Modifications > User Keys
I wrote this specifically for a HID pendant, to map commands to number keys, but it works off the keyboard numbers too.
They are here too
www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/forum...is-user-defined-keys
I never did bother trying to get them accepted in Linuxcnc, but these and all the other modifications have been in Machinekit for some time.
regards

Chris,
I am running LinuxCNC 2.6.7 with the AXIS GUI.
I was intending of using a second keyboard conroller, hacking it to make the pendant. I will take a look at galdeVCP. I suppose I don't really need the on screen button, it would be easier (read I am being lazy) to use a pendant.
