i2c usage? was created by sleepybishop
what are the the options for using i2c devices via hal, is the general approach to just to bitbang i2c in a custom comp?
i though of using a nxp chip to bridge uart/spi to i2c, but would a writing a hostmot module for i2c be overkill ?
specifically im thinking of how best to integrate an io expander like the semtech sx1509 and an amg8833 thermal imager.
thanks much

I can't think of any other way to do it unless the controller platform has dedicated hardware.
A Hostmot2 module would be an option (but that is just bitbanging in the FPGA)

thanks andy, i think for now i will use the nxp bridge (SC18IS600I), itll give me more experience with the bspi interface.
someday i think it might be a fun project to integrate i2c into the fpga via something like
eewiki.net/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=11042934
but for now an external bridge should work (i hope)
