Is latency an issue with an all EtherCAT setup? was created by thomaseg
Hi,
I'm running everything via Ethercat and i'm wondering if the hardware latency is a "real-world" issue at all...? Obscene latency will of course cause issues, but is it safe to assume that i don't have to worries too much about latency when using EtherCAT and no step-generation?

The EtherCAT bus runs at the rate of the LinuxCNC servo thread, so it shouldn't add any noticeable latency.
