Thanks PCW.
There is a dead link in the following error wiki page. The graph doesn't show. Where should I report that?
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Following_Error
According to my StepConf produced .ini, I have:
FERROR =1
MIN_FERROR=.25
MAX_VELOCITY =30.319xxxx
Since the pitch lagged three mmm behind the commanded pitch, should it not have errored out once it exceeded 1mm?
I can se that I need to spend more time tuning the motion. I have a Gecko 201 onto a 4.5A Nema 34 running at 70V, so I should be able to increase the max velocity and acceleration quite a bit.
regards,
Mark

Not sure why you did not get a following error but I expect the test is working
plotting Z's ferror might be valuable ( those settings are still quite large and should not need to be)

The wiki is maintained or not by users so it is usually out of date or broken but does have a ton of useful information if you can weed through the outdated stuff.

My plasma goes 7 in/sec on nema 23 which are faster usually that 34 and about the same voltage. What kind of position feedback are you using with a stepper?According to my StepConf produced .ini, I have:

Sorry for the late response. I had to rescrape the front spindle bearing.
There is no position feedback directly on the Z axis, just on the spindle. I made a 45 tooth Encoder wheel + index on the lathe spindle.
