Boxford 250F options?
I have just bought a Boxford 250 which is running on a Fanuc OT system and looking for options.
Ultimatly I would like to have the touch screen and run the macros for quick turing etc. and have spindle indexing with live tooling so a retro fit would be the best long term option but I really need to get this up and running asap and then convert in a few months.
option 1
Is it possible to connect to the Fanuc system so I can use Lcnc to control it?
Option 2
Reuse the Fanuc motors with a Granite devices argon and Lcnc
Option 3
Complete refit with new AC servos and drives?
Thanks in advance

It was more the possible integration with Fanuc or to reuse some of the fanuc parts.

I believe Jon Elson make some hardware solutions for running Fanuc motors.

It would be good to pick your brains on the conversion Although I don't have the slotted disc on the ball screws and the spindle encoder is a belt driven unit. did you have the stepper drive for the tool station? There seems to be a lot of wiring in the back panel just for that.
Given the Fanuc system is 30 years old I'm leaning away from reusing it.

No, that would be two motion controllers, who would be in charge?
You missed out option 1.5, keep the Fanuc drives and motors but control them with LinuxCNC.Option 2

Seems like a waste of some good motors and drive hardware.Option 3

With option 1.5 i wouldn't I still need 415v 3 phase supply to run though? can that be done then? Most people seem to think that it is a nightmare to do. I'd be interested if it can be done.
the Fanuc system is nearly 30 years old though, 1990.

Possibly, but the drives might well be 240V input, or might work perfectly OK on 240V.

How can I find out? Is it just a case of wiring up one of the phases to 240v
