generic Omron encoder help was created by my1987toyota

I am in the process of acquiring all the parts for my Lathe build and right now
I am trying to figure out my spindle encoder. I have wanted to get the generic
Omron E6B2-CWZ6C with the 100 pulse per rotation but it is proving problematic
I'm looking for a maximum rating for pulse train at 3000 rpm and the max the Mesa 7i76e
can handle is I think 10 MHz. So does that mean it could handle over 3000 pulse per rotation ?
any suggestions ?

You can basically chose as high an encoder resolution as you like
a 10000 count per turn (2500 PPR) encoder is only 500 KHz at 3000 RPM
(3000 RPM is 50 RPS, 50 RPS * 10000 counts/turn = 500,000)
The limitation will usually be the encoder. not the 7I76E
