Spindle synchronized motion without starting the spindle was created by anfänger
Hi, I have a question is it possible to use spindle synchronized motion without starting the spindle?
The reason is, I want to use it to tap internal threads by manually turning the chuck.
Cause I am not sure if tapping would work wit the ramp of my spindle an so overshoot and crash the tap on the bottom of the hole.
Thanks Patrick

I am pretty sure it is possible, seen someone on youtube doing just that, turning the chuck by hand and the rest of the machine following it.

Spindle-synch will refuse to start if the spindle is not on and set to non-zero speed.
So one work-around is to set the spindle-override to zero and then command a spindle speed / start.

It works, now just a gcode to set the spindle override to 0 and back. I also tested the rigid tapping and even in low gear I overshoot 6 mm so for tapping I need to do it manually. Till I find another solution.
Many thanks for the help.
Cheers Patrick

This might be something that you can configure in the spindle drive. A braking resistor might be needed.I also tested the rigid tapping and even in low gear I overshoot 6 mm
