Hi

I like to know how other users manage the tailstock with lathe operation.

For now i use setting "TOOL_CHANGE_POSITION = 0 0 0"

Post processor from fusion 360 also use retract by G53 G0 X0 G53 G0 Z0

What is for you the better way for manage both retract + tool change position if tailstock is used ?

I think most of the machine use a taisltock on the same rail as Z axis, so using it the Z distance is reduced and does not allow a full retract.

Best regards

Typically you would only need to retract to X0, especially if working with a tailstock.

You could consider setting up G28 retract instead, and setting that per-job.

I have think the same things as your first proposal retracting only X in all situation is the most easy way and i think safe in all situation.

Thanks a lot for information,.
