Ebosa 140 CNC retrofit

Hello,
I am in the process of retrofiting a ebosa 140 CNC lathe. It originally had a Siemens 3T control, Siemens brushed servos and Siemens brushed spindle motor with thyristor drive.

I will reuse the spindle motor with its drive, but will replace servomotors with new Lichuan ethercat motors.For IO I will use Beckhoff modules and Mesa hardware (6i25, 7i85, 7i73).Here are some pictures of the build currently.

And this is the control panel, laser cut stainless, cherry switches and potentiometers for overrides. screen is a chinese 14 inch touch screen.

Here is a picture of the back side of the panel, 7i73 reading switches, 2 potentiometers and mpg encoder.
It also drives 30 LEDs under switches (multiplexed). The multiplexing is currently done in hal but I will try to write a component for it.

 

And this is a custom power detection board. Basically just 12 AC optocouplers and a relay output to detect a open breaker or motor overloads.

 

Also do you insert pictures in posts as attachments or someway different. On some pictures even if I compress them, forum still complains about large file size.

Some slow progress lately.

I have made a new hal component for easier configuration.

The component is multiplexer logic for driving leds for examle. I am running 64 key keypad, 2 potentiometers and 30 leds with a 7i73.

More pictures and videos coming soon, still have some problems with ethercat.
