Lathe project was created by Jdolecki
I been wanting a small Cnc lathe for awhile now.
One of my requirements was to have its own stand / enclosure.
I was mainly interested in just the iron.
My initial plan was to strip and rebuild it mechanically and electrical.
I looked at different controller mach3 (old) Mach 4 ( buggy I heard) acorn (expensive) masso ( only does x and y)
Found grizzly 924 on fb marketplace for cheap and the guy even delivered it.
The closer I looked at the fuzzy pictures I realized it already had a mesa card it it with two expansion cards.
So this is my intro to Linuxcnc.
first steps
1: clean it
2: put it on wheels
3: power only the motherboard and replace battery.
4: bring up the 220 mains.
5: see it the old controller still starts up.

That is a very good plan!New plan
Discard existing control motherboard dead.
Purchased new mesa 7l96s. Already have a Rasberry pi 4.
Remove all lathe components to clean Hardened and crusty chips.
