Can i connect 7i29 to P4 connector on 5i20?? was created by machete
Good day!
My current configuration:
5i20 with 3 flat cables connecting:
P2 -> 7i37TA (automatics)
P3 -> 7i47S (spindle+handwheel+automatics)
P4 -> 7i29+7i29 (4axis)
I'm trying to create configuration with pncconf.
Choosing firmware: SVST8_4
(5 pwm, 5 encoders)
Look in tabs explaining connectors (P2, P3, P4) - and only way i see is to connect my 7i29 to P2...
But i already made cables with exact length...
So, is it possible to change software configuration to connect 7i29 exactly to P4? Or it will be better to make new flat cables?

I think making new cables is probably easier, unfortunately.

OK, thanks for answer!
I will make a new cable.

I can make such a config pretty quickly if you like, it really just amounts
to cut/pasting a section of the pinout file around and re-compiling
(if you have the Xilinx tools setup), no more than a 5 minute job

Though you then won't be able to use PNCconf - unless your using EMC2.5 and add a special file.
i wish we could pull out the code that makes the XML file so Peter could build XML files too....

Actually it would be better if this was done live from the FPGA IDROM data
then there is no chance of mis-matched configs and text descriptions of configs
or a proliferation of files.
Also with newer SSERIAL devices its quite akward to know what pins are available
except with a live system (or data extracted from one)

Thank you, but i would like to keep my system with standard software - to be able to upgrade or reinstall EMC in case of HDD destruction.

Sure but it requires a custom firmware
if you can say which daughtercard you prefer on each connector
I can make a matching configuration

P2 -> 7i29+7i29 (4axis)
P3 -> 7i47S (spindle+handwheel+automatics)
P4 -> 7i37TA (automatics)
But it will be better if you can make firmware for configuration like in my first post:
(because of better flat cables tracing)
