Mesa 4i65 + 7i44 - 7i70&7i71 was created by hardware_crash
Hi guys,
I´m havin problems with setting up the Mesa 4i65 in linuxcnc.
My complete configuration should look like this : In the PC 6i71 with Extern PCIE cable connected to the Mesa 4i73 with Mesa 4i65 on it
On the Mesa 4i65 should be on Plug1 a Mesa 7i33 and on Plug4 the Mesa 7i44 with 1 7i70 and 1 7i71 connected via RJ45 cable.
The 4i65 seems to work as all the leds light up as long as I load linuxcnc , then it seems to load the firmware and the leds turn off.
I used the 4i65 smart serial firmware posted here in the forum a few months ago ..
But when I start linuxcnc there is no response on the 7i70 or the 7i71.. No led is lightning ..
Also on the 7i44 RJ45 plug is no led lightning..
That cant be correct or ?
What can I do ? how can I test the 7i71s outputs ?
best regards
Lukas

A couple of things:
The 7I44 has no LEDs so thats OK
Both the 7I70 and 7I71 will show a red LED if no communication is occurring
(watchdog fault) and a blinking green light at about 1Hz for a 1 KHz servo thread
if communication is OK
I should add that if you don't have either red or green lights, theres likely no field power on the 7I70 and/or 7I71
and if you have red lights only, you may have the 7I44 connected to the wrong 4I65 connector
Can you post your dmesg here?
To do this, first open a terminal and type
dmesg --clear
to delete old stuff in the log we are not interested in
then run linuxcnc
next type
dmesg > log.txt
and post log.txt here

Sorry, my fault.. I just connected the RJ45 Jack and nothing to the VField or the VIN ...
I thought the +5V also supply the 7i70s logic side and the leds..
I will try to connect power to the VField Pins when I´m back in the shop.
How do I work with the pins in the hal file ?
net emcmot.01.enable => hm2_[HOSTMOT2](BOARD).0.7i71.0.0 - and how do I continue ?
best regards

This
chapter
covers the basic HAL commands and is a must read to get you up to speed on that. It is only a few pages long including some examples.

I connected the VField Pins and it works properly
So the 5V from the RJ45 JAck are just for the transceiver ,right ?
