Help with 7i43 was created by Mike_Eitel
Hi
I have suddenly a problem
I have a running configuration with 7I43 the 400k version.
Everithing worked fine , could see all signals very well.
I'm changing my connection board and addapt new hw interfaces.
From one try to another my configuration comes up with the error screen telling me that I try with wrong configuration...
I do have a 400k pal, for sure and as I understand now it seems so recognize only a 200k version. See images ..
What can I do ?
I realy hope to finish my new maschine this weekend ....
Help is apreacheated

Thats usually indicates a communication problem with the Host parallel port.
common causes:
Bad cabling
7I43 in wrong mode
wrong parallel port address
Power /chip problem on 7I43 (FPGA or CPLD
or 3.3V regulator damage from excessive voltage)
I would disconnect all your added I/O
and power cycle the 7I43 to see if you get the 7I43s
/DONE /INIT and /PWR LEDS on. If not,
the 7I43 may have been damaged
(or the jumpers are not set for parallel mode/no EEPROM load)
If you get all three LEDs, then try launching linuxCNC
and see if the board is found

thf for the ( as usual ) fast reply.
I'm not aware that anything changed... I'll try with another set of parrport cabling.
I see the yellow led constant ...
Than a short blink of the red one....
Than stays the yellow again-

If you cycle the 7I43 power, and the 7I43
is jumpered for EPP config = W4 and W5 down,
you should get all three LEDs on when power comes up.
If you do not get this, the jumpering is wrong or there

Hi
No result.
New cables. Same behaviour. I don''t believe that its the regulator.
Everithing is switched to 5 Volt, please see photo
Behaviour in detail. Parport connector on top
When powered on:
left red led short blink ( 300ms ), red little longer ( 1000ms ) right yellow constant on
Same wit or without parport cable
When stay to start linuxcnc ( or simple Hal-testfile )
Left red no signal at all, red blink for ca 1000ms right yellow constant.
Then application stops with error message you can see on seconf jpg.
Is there a way to do a test or something via the USB cable, also with another PC = windows prefered `
Is there a way to check via the programming adaptor.
I habe AVR ( Atmel ) JTAG tools ?
THX Mike

Actually if my eyes were a little better and I looked a little more carefully, the problem is obvious from the photo:
Jumper W4 is missing (so EEPROM load is selected)

Hi
I Think I ow you a sixpack, ( Pitty that you are so fare away )
Man you are realy good !
Murphy is a real winner, I found that d***ed jumper on the floor !
It must have loosen when I turned for soldering new optocopplers.
Again THX and I love your board more and more from day to day,
also for an old industrial hacker ( div languagues + IEC 61131 , ladder .etc.) it needs time to get familliar with hal.
Have a nice day
Mike
happy again )
