Yes they do go bang, burnt one already on the trail of CNC discovery.

Thanks,
I am trying to get away from the 6560 since they are so picky, and I like the fact that the 6600's have the auto reduction to the motor on rest.

Hi,
The TB6600 have current reduction input pin. As far as I know they do not have *auto* power reduction. You need external circuitry to cause the current reduction line to change. The circuitry can be built in to the drive board though. A simple timing circuit that monitors the STEP line, or, a small processor that can handle several step input lines and activate the appropriate current reduction line for the given axis.

Has anyone used a "new" TB6600 board that is floating around the ebay and aliexpress. It is somewhat smaller PCB than the previous versions and heatsink seems to be connected more properly.
It seems this one does not have the idle current reduction circuitry that was causing problems on the previous versions and TB 6560 boards? Plus it seems to have just a pot resistor for current selection. So if anyone has encountered one in person I would love to hear any comments about it.

I'm *very* impressed with the Leadshine DM556. It's super quiet. Available on aliexpress for ~60USD shipped.

I agree, I use nothing but Leadshine drivers, never had any problem with them, you just connect and forget them.
