The HostMot2 SSI interface works and is supported by linuxcnc 2.6.0 or greater

If you want to use the SSI interface then we will help you make it work. It should be easy enough, the driver certainly works.

Resurrecting an old thread here but I'm a bit curious about the HM2 SSI interface. I'm not sure if the interface has changed but I'm wondering if it supports single turn SSI encoders yet. It would seem to me that the HM2 side would have to count rotations to calculate actual position and the axis would have to be homed on startup.
I would also assume only mesa cards supporting rs485 trancievers would work with a "2-wire" serial encoder. I was specifically thinking of DMM servos with "A6-standard" 16-bit single turn absolute encoders. They are 4-pin 5v, gnd, S+, and S-

I think it always did. Encoders of any bit width are extended to 64 bit counters and wrap properly.
