mesa 5i25/6i25 with Gecko G540 and 7i75?

I'm building a 3 axis cnc machine, controlled with a Gecko G540. For hardware stepping I thought of buying a mesa 6i25. The 6i25 has two parallel ports. The Gecko G540 I'll connect to the first parallel port. Can I, for extra I/O ports, connect a 7i75 to the 6i25's second parallel port?

Mesa provides many different firmware's. The most appropriate one seems to be the G540x2 firmware. But when running this firmware, will the 6i25 recognise the 7i75, and make the 7i75 accessible to linuxcnc?

The 7I75 is just a protection card so is not recognized by the driver
(it does not need to be recognized either)

The G540x2 config will work fine with the 7I75

Thanks for your quick answer.

Excuse my ignorance: will I be able to use the 7i75 on the second parallel port for home switches, limit switches, touch plates, spindle water cooling, etc, with the G540x2 firmware?

Sure as long as you understand that the 7I75 just protects the FPGA card,
the signal levels are still the same as you would get with parallel port
