For the benefit of others here are the tabs that show with the 5i25 and 7i76 combi
These are not shown in the current version of the pncconfig manual and it appears to be a bit misleading as there are different tabs in it
I am not sure about connector Tab2 should that be used or the TB4 and TB5 for the inputs and outputs etc

TB2 is the extra 25 pin header on the 5i25. It is awkward to connect to, unprotected and (I think) 3.3V. So you should use the 7i76 GPIO for your machine control. (7i76 SS #0)

Andy the way I read it is TB2 is on the 7i76 marked as step/dir. The other connector on the 5i25 is marked as P2 with 26 pins.
I think I meant to say I/O connector 2 and not Tab2 on the Pncconf screen above. Thanks

It's pretty much up to you what you use for what. Spare step/dir pins can be used as general purpose 5V outputs if the associated stepgens are disabled.
