MESA 7I43U was created by boyzo
Hello,
My current configuration: 7I33, 7I37 and 5I20 PCI FPGA board. and it works for more than 1 year.
I plan to change PC with NCBox or BeagleBone Black so I need to change 5I20 card. I am thinking about 7I43U - FPGA USB Anything I/O card.
I need some advice:
1. Does my chose of NCBox or BeagleBone Black make sense or there is something better in this small PC area? Which one to chose?
2. I remember discussion about USB bus and at that time support was not available. Is this support now standard (7I43U support)?
Thanks and regards
Boyan

their is no usb support , and never will be ,
if your using at the moment a 7i33 7i37 and a 5i20 , then i'd guess you have a large installation , and not a small toy
therefore i dont recommend any of the toy permutations such as the pi beaglebone etc , they just dont have the horsepower or indeed the interface needed at the moment
i'd stick with a small atx based pc , or you'll be spending more time running in circles and trying software
than actually using the machine .
i believe Arceye has done some work with ncbox , so i'd point that question at him
i suspect the same answer or near to
a lot of the current work is at it's infantile state , so although theirs talk , it's not what i would call stable

Thank you for this. As you suggest, I will stay with 5I20.
The concern I had was PCI bus on new PC's, that was the reason I was thinking about changing FPGA card. Do you know of any ATX based PC brand available in Europe and latency tested for LinuxCNC?

I don't think that the PCI bus is about to disappear immediately, but your existing hardware would work with:
store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...83_85&product_id=300
In a PCI-e slot.
Or you could consider store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...=83_85&product_id=61

Well, 7i80HD-25 can be alternative. Is there standard HAL support for this card? How complex is configuration? Any known issue?

I think it works, I have actually used one in a demo config.
It isn't in the released version: wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Uspace

If I understand correctly, I need to manually install Uspace RTAPI to get Ethernet support. But then my PCI card will not work (this is OK, i will have only PCI or Ethernet anyway). Is this correct on 2.7 also? Is this card supported in Stepconf?

The table says that PCI works with USpace. If I understand correctly, I need to manually install Uspace RTAPI to get Ethernet support. But then my PCI card will not work
It would be pncconf that was used to set it up, but I don't know.Is this card supported in Stepconf?

I don't think I still have it, and it was very specialised.
