Aerotech 3-axis stepper motor controllers for CNC was created by hobo89
I recently acquired an Aerotech Ensemble Epaq 3-axis stepper motor controller, complete with 3 motors & cables.
-- Unfortunately, this used bit of equipment did not come with the OEM software...
Does anyone know if LinuxCNC can be used to control this & how-to... ?
I am hoping to use it on a smaller home made 3-axis mill.
A description of the hardware is:

thank you,

I don't think so, or not easily.
The problem is that the Aerotech device is trying to do exactly the same job as LinuxCNC tries to do. The EPAQ is a motin controller and LinuxCNC is also a motion controller.
You might be able to disconnect the drives from the controller, and replace the controller with LinuxCNC. But that seems like the wrong thing to do, really.
It is possible that the ASCII interface mentioned is G-code...

hi Andy,
Thank you for your reply.
Do you (or anyone ?) know what TANGO is ?
Aerotech mentions it as an open source controller program that supports Aerotech.
I thought that it might help me with the 3-axis desktop milling task I am interested in pursuing.
Although, TANGO may be too sophisticated, if it has some hooks into the Aerotech motion controller, it would be a start.
I have tried the Aerotech link, but it did not work for me:

motioncontrol.aerotech.com/2012/03/28/en...e-tango-environment/
TANGO:
tango-ds.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tango-ds/Motion/Aerotech/

It looks promising, you might as well try it. The big question I don't see answered on a very minimal scan is whether it can take G-code as input.
