Works a 5I25 with a 7I77 and a 7I84 ? was created by Holzwurm56
Hello,
I want to use in my cnc milling machine a 5I25 with a 7I77. I have an 7I84 too. If the I/O's from the 7I77 are not enough can I use the serial port from the 7I77 to control the I/O ports from the 7I84 via serial cable? Works someone with such a configuration?
Many thanks for every answer
Hans

Yes, you can connect any sserial expansion card to the 7I77s RS-422 expansion port

Hello PCW,
many thanks for your answer. Is there a description available, where I can read in what kind of way I can make the configuration?
Thanks

For a smart-serial card you typically just need to plug it in and see what new HAL pins appear.
(the HAL pins will have the name of the smart-serial card as part of their name, or example
hm2_5i25.0.7i84.0.0.input-00
There is an option which is useful when you have many smart-serial cards to name the pins by the card serial number, in which case the pins would be called something like hm2_7i84.ab02.input-00. But in your case with only one card it probably isn't worth bothering.
