Damaged 7i76 was created by Michael
I some how had an encoder cable (5v, A+, gnd) touch and arc to a spindle motor cable. My board will now not jog my steppers. I can get a very intermittent stepper movement if I attempt to move two steppers at the same time but there is something obviously wrong. I just need to see if the problem is isolated to the 7i76 or can that short run up into the 5i25 or the PC board? How much isolation is there between all of this and how could I check/find the damage. Would it be as simple as soldering in a new component? There is no visual damage to any of this and I still have power to the board, the limit switches work just fine.
Thanks

Do any of the stepper channels work any more? I would guess channel 5 was unconnected during the "inadvertant experment" ?

Usually if there is a overvoltage on the 5V, the first things to go are the 74ACTXXX parts like the
step drivers, so depending on how severe of an overvoltage occurred, there could be a couple to
all 5V connected parts fried. The 5I25 may or may not have been damaged, if it configures and is still recognized
its at least possibly OK

How would I check if it is still being recognized? The estop and limit switches still work. I am going to check the 4th and 5th axis channels here in a bit as they were disconnected.

If anything still works then it seems likely that the 5i25 is OK.
Your config wouldn't even boot if the 5i25 wasn't recognised.

Does Mesa offer repairs to the boards? I live less than an hour from them and could drop it off today. I hope they do because they are currently out of stock of 7i76's.

We can repair boards but we are quite busy currently so it may take a while
We should get a new lot of 7I76s from our assembly house later this week
