mesaflash and star tech pci parallel port board not playing nice was created by JR1050
Im trying to get mesaflash to talk to my 7i90 thru a startech pci1p_lp board. As of now i dont have a computer with an onboard parallel port real handy. The system seems to recognize the board like so
01:06.0 Communication controller: NetMos Technology PCI 1 port parallel adapter (rev 01)
Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic Device 0010
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 19
I/O ports at ec00
I/O ports at e880
I/O ports at e800
I/O ports at e480
I/O ports at e400
I/O ports at e080
Kernel driver in use: parport_pc
seems like permission is there
zoey@debian:~$ ls -la /dev/parport0
crw-rw---T 1 root lp 99, 0 Sep 9 21:32 /dev/parport0
attempting to locate the 7i90 gets this
zoey@debian:~$ sudo mesaflash --device 7i90 --epp
failed to clear EPP Timeout!
EPP timeout on data cycle of read(addr=0x0000, size=4)
failed to clear EPP Timeout!
EPP timeout on data cycle of read(addr=0x0100, size=4)
failed to clear EPP Timeout!
No 7I90 board found
My guess is mesaflash is looking fore the parallel port at 0x0378?
Is this a case of thsi baord just wont do it? I tried to get a board that was known to work in linux for epp.
What am i missing?
system is debian wheezy from the iso
thanks

You can set the parallel port address on the mesaflash command line ( with -addr 0xXXXX )
_BUT_ NetMos/MOSChip based PCI parallel cards do not implement EPP correctly so are unlikely to work

The star tech board has the problem you described. I'm stuck in a hurricane anyway, so I dug an old dell out with an onboard p port and put Debian on it. Mesaflash found the 7i90 , we are on our way. Thanks.
