Hi,

I managed to burn out an easydriver v4.5. I didnt get it to work directly on the parallel port on my computer. So I am looking for another test setup to experiment with linuxcnc. It would have to be connected directly to the parallel port. I am asking just to make sure that this is possible to connect to linuxcnc parallel port.

Drivers and motors:

Can these drivers be directly controlled to the parallel port ? Or would I need following breakout board to get it to work.?

Breakout board:

Thanks for your opinions.

You don't "need" the break out board, but they are highly recommended. (That way you are less likely to do to your computer what you did to the easydriver.)

So this hardware would do for now? I can order it without being stuck with useless hardware.

I still don't understand why the easyDriver didn't work. I burned it using my raspberry pi by the way not with linuxcnc. Todd, could you have a look at my thread about it. Cause I really don't think I connected it wrong.
