Hi guy's, I was hoping someone could help me out, I just purchased an 80's Delta Vh-3600 cnc knee mill and the controller is bad. It is an Anilam Crusader M. I want to run Linuxcnc on it but I want to reuse the SEM servo motors type MT30m4-59 and the drives that are EG&G Torque Systems servo drive model ACU3015-100D, the servos are DC brushed 142 volts and 2400 rpm. My question is can I make these drives work with the Mesa 5i25 and the 7i77 cards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mike

Probably, AFAIK those are standard analog velocity mode servo drives,
so if the drives are OK a 7I77 should drive them.

Do you have any documentation on the drives?

Thanks for the reply PCW, I don't have any documentation for the drives, do you know if I would need to install encoders on the servos, I'm pretty new to this stuff.

I'm pretty sure Anilam systems of that vintage use linear scales for feedback so you dont need additional encoders

I just checked and the mill does have the linear scales on X and Y but I don't know if there is something on the Z axis. How would the linear scales work using the Mesa boards, do you have any idea.

They should be normal quadrature encoders so connect directly to the 7I77
