7i77+7i70+7i71 was created by Henk
HI
I'm busy with a Nakamura CNC lathe retrofit. I'm currently planning to use a 7i77+7i70 but it looks like I'm going to run out of digital output pins.
Previously I used a 7i74 to add additional channels or the 7i71 on a different machine.
This section in the 7i70 manual made me think that it may be possible to connect both the 7i70 and 7i71 to the single RS422 port on the 7i77, is this possible when the RS422 is left unterminated on the first card? Or is there no other way than to add a 7i74?
SERIAL PORT TERMINATION
The RS-422 serial port on the 7I70 can be terminated or un-terminated. Normally
the 7I70 is the serial cable endpoint so the port must be terminated. W12 and W13 enable
and disable the termination,
W12,W13 MODE
UP,UP Terminated (default)
DOWN.DOWN Unterminated
Thanks
Henk

I don't think you can have more than one sserial card on a single port.
What is driving the 7i77? If it is a 5i25 then there is a second header that can connect up to 8 more smart-serial IO cards.
