7i76E power? was created by Omnis
Hi sorry this seems like a dumb question that I cant find any answers to. What ?AMPERAGE? 5v power supply should I get for 7i76E? the manual does not say it just says 5v. I'm tempted to get a 5v 40a, fry it send it back so they are forced to tell me...:pinch:

got an answer from manufacturer:
"A high current power supply will not affect the 7I76E, anything from 250 ma to 10A is reasonable."

I am overly cautious of heat buildup or frying components. I wish they put this sentence in the manual. Techno indeed linked me the right schematic for 24v. and I just didn't understand.
for anyone wondering I got a mean well MDR-60-24 24v 2.5A

Did you see there where I asked for what the amperage(current) should be not the voltage? I even capitalized amperage and put a question mark on both sides, and specifically stated that the manual didn't say. I have a 40amp 5v but I think it would just melt...

The manual specifies the 5V logic power maximum as 500 mA, but you can avoid the need for a 5V supply by using
the built in regulator as Tecno illustrated.

A 40 A 5V supply will work fine (as would a 1000A 5V supply) but will cause more damage if you make a wiring
mistake or a component fails...

TY!! I thought that diagram was only for rs-422 and analog only. I'm using step-dir set up for Clearpath servos, so I was attempting to follow this diag

Thanks for asking the question. I must have missed it too the first time through the manual. I read it again and, yes, it's in there but it's sort of buried in the middle of a paragraph.

In a perfect world, having a few small diagrams showing power connection options would be ideal to get someone off the ground quickly. A sentence or two below that describes why you might want to set it up that way would be even better.

I had definitely not seen that. It should be made much more obvious to find. I've bookmarked it, and I'm not one to bookmark things.
