Can 7i76e perform a Wake on LAN to my NUC? was created by tecno
As in subject, is this possible?
Need to fix a way to start the PC as it is inside a control cabinet. Earlier PC I soldered wires to the start switch but this NUC5PPYH is like Fort Nox = can not find a way to lift out the motherboard.
Same with the BRIX but there I managed to solder cables to start switch.

I suppose its possible but would require:
1. The 7I76E have a EEPROM copy of the hosts MAC address (7I76E and Mesaflash changes)
2. The 7I76E have a WOL mode (Does it just do this once at power up?)
Does your NUC support WOL via WIFI? , that might be a lot easier...

Did a search for WOL on that type of NUC and it seems not to be the case.
I will go to do this manually, just open the door to the cabinet at the same time I switch on the main power to the lathe, no big issue just convenient to have remote start.

What don't you setup the PC BIOS start at power up and just switch the PC's power?

If that can be done, will have a look at that, thanks for the tip.

Does anything? I suppose it is possible with an integrated adaptor, but I imagine impossible with a USB dongle.

I have my mill set up like this, with a twist...
There is a mains-power input relay. This has a 5V coil connected to motherboard 5V (USB header I think)
There is a front-panel switch that bypasses the relay.
Press the button, 240V is applied to the system. A second later the 5V on the PC comes up and the relay closes. I can now release the button.
When the PC is closed down it turns off the 5V, and that releases the relay. powering down the whole machine.

It may help you.

That's what i had plane for my project. To wire up external power switch to Intel NUC and use NO element and connected it to CNC ON push button.

Takes me back to when I modified a laptop to operate as a Car PC years ago. I pulled the machine apart and soldered wires from the power switch on the motherboard to the RJ12 modem port so I could add an external switch. The specialist vehicle PC power supply had a Opto isolator that turned the PC following a delay after the ignition was turned on. You just had to be careful about switch polarity to keep the opto happy. I also added an external momentary switch for manual operation.
So if you can solder in the wires as suggested, there are many ways to trigger a momentary button press. My power supply used an Atmel Mega chip the same as an Arduino.
