Does anyone know the best way to wire a standard Huanyang VFD to the Mesa 7i76e board?

I can kind of guess most of the connections but would be good to have a solid idea of how they should be connected!

Cheers, Jack

I have not connected the Huan Yang vfd to the 7i76e. Instead I used USB-RS485 converter like this one
www.ebay.com/itm/CH340-USB-to-RS485-485-...Sw7XZXhzJe:rk:2:pf:0
together with the hy_vfd module

+10 to Pin 3
VI to pin 2
ACM to Pin 1

FOR to Pin 6
REV to Pin 8
DCM to Pins 7 and 5

Then Configure the VFD
PD001 = 1
PD002 = 1
PD044 = 1
PD045 = 5

Hi, i have a HY02D223B Ver.2 i think. Did anyone have an idea how to connect them right to the 7i76e? Or would it be better to only work with the RS485 Modbus

Modbus is preferable in my opinion because it allows you to have information from the VFD available in LinuxCNC. I currently have a pyvcp panel set up to display the current draw from the VFD and the approximate spindle speed based on the frequency the VFD is outputting.

Edit: I have a different VFD than you have, and I don't see the Rs- and Rs+ headers on yours.

I agree on Modbus. But it seems from a quick search that the "ver 2" is a clone that lacks Modbus www.kronosrobotics.com/hy02d223b-vfd-type-2
Follow Andy's wiring a few posts back,
where Andy has ACM and DCM you have only GND,
and you have +12V instead of +10

Note that modbus may not be as good for spindle synced motion
(especially rigid tapping) since it can have random delays in 10s
to 100s of ms region.
