Hello,

i have a g0602 lathe that i converted to cnc and was wondering if someone could help me with the VFD wiring to the 7i76 board. i would like to have the option of running the motor in reveres (if possible)

VFD: KBDF-27D
www.electricmotorwholesale.com/9675-KBDF-27D/

Break out board 7i76

will be running linuxcnc or pathpilot

on the Mesa Board the VFD is wired to TB4, this is how i have it wired so far.

TB4 VFD Side

Pin 1 (Spindle -) --> Pin 4 (common)
Pin 2 (Spindle Out) --> Pin 12 (analog output)
Pin 3 (Spindle +) --> Pin 2 (+5v dc)
Pin 4 (NC) --> Unsure
Pin 5 (Spindle Ena -) --> Pin 11 (common)
Pin 6 (Spindle Ena +) --> Unsure
Pin 7 (Spindle Dir -) --> Pin 11 (common)
Pin 8 (Spindle Dir +) --> Unsure

thanks

You will need to configure the MFIT input pins to give you "run" and "reverse".
I think it looks like that is possible.

thank you Andy, i will give it a shot this weekend,

do you know what the signal needs to look like for pin 6 and 8 on TB4?

also is 5v DC enough for PIN 3 on TB4 (Ive seen some literature that suggests that its looking for +12v)

The 7i76 "enable" and "direction" outputs should be considered to be switches, so wire them as shown in the VFD figure 6.

7i76 + terminal goes to VFD 5/6/7/8/9 (as required) and 7i76 - terminal goes to common.

Reading the text below the image it states that if the jumper is set for NPN (default) then the digital inputs use the internal power supply and there is no need to connect to terminal 10.

(Typically a VFD does not need an external DC PSU to work, in the vast majority of applications that would be inconvenient.)
