Looking at buying a star tech parallel port for a new install. Anyone have input positive or negative? Instructions on how to load the driver?
Thanks

In Linux you usually shouldn't need to install a driver for a parallel port card. If you do then there is a good chance the card won't work. I don't have any experience with that particular card.

If you just need plain parallel port, then most cards will work. If you need EPP mode (for Pico Systems or Mesa controller boards) then it gets more complicated. For EPP, I supply SYBA SD-PEX10005 cards for the PCIe slots. I recommend SIIG parallel port cards for the older PCI slots.
There have been a very few cards that are so far from the classic parport register layout that they only work with a Windows driver. I'm not too sure which these cards are.
